Francesco's research focuses on synthesizing, engineering, and applying natural and artificially designed enzymes. Biocatalysis has been described as the ‘Holy Grail’ of sustainability, and a toolbox for industrial applications. However, this bio-transition has yet to fully happen. Francesco addresses challenges and solutions for powerful reactions and greener processes, spacing from the synthesis of pharmaceuticals to plastic pollution bioremediation.
Taisa, a Chemical Engineer by education, has worked more than 20 years in Research and Innovation leadership positions at Kraft, Coca-Cola, and Danone. A recovering academic’s guide to effectively transition to industry
About the session
Dr. Maikel Boot will take you on a journey on how to take the ‘i’ in academia and successfully place it in industry.
"Exploring the transition from academia is a natural step in any academic’s career. While there is no one clear path and everyone’s journey is different, there are tools and broader-level insights one can use as a framework to help figure things out. In this interactive session, the goal is to talk about a few of these tools and insights including how to explore, how to prepare, do’s and don’ts, and some other tips on professional development."
